In the Middle Ages Würzburg experienced a first period of economic prosperity. At the same time it became a significant spiritual centre. Early in history monks from Ireland brought Christianity to this place, a first cathedral was already built in the 8th century, mendicant orders founded abbeys here. Gradually gaining more power the citizens too left marks in town like the Holy Mary Chapel on market square and the town hall, the so-called Grafeneckart. Until today we find many traces of the Middle Ages in town. Searching for these relics the tour presents medieval history in a basic and lively way.

This tour is also available age-based for schools and other children groups.
